Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS,\u201d Trump wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Multiple outlets reported Monday that Reiner\u2019s son was arrested in connection to the deaths. Nick Reiner had a long history of drug abuse that he has spoken about publicly over the last several years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his social media post, Trump went on to say Reiner \u201cwas known to have driven people crazy\u201d with his obsession of Trump, adding that Reiner\u2019s \u201cparanoia\u201d reached \u201cnew heights\u201d as the administration \u201csurpassed all goals and expectations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMay Rob and Michele rest in peace!\u201d the president concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reiner \u2014 a Democrat and donor \u2014 and his wife were found stabbed to death in their home Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The director was an outspoken critic of the president and repeatedly warned against Trump\u2019s impact on democracy.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMake no mistake. We have a year before this country becomes a full on autocracy and democracy completely leaves us,\u201d Reiner told the MSNBC, now known as MS NOW, in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a separate interview with the Guardian in February 2024, Reiner called Trump \u201ca criminal\u201d who \u201cbasically lies every minute of his life.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump\u2019s reaction to Reiner\u2019s death sparked backlash from his critics.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rep.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/michael-lawler\/\">Mike Lawler\u00a0<\/a>(R-N.Y.) said in an X post that the president\u2019s statement \u201cwas wrong.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRegardless of one\u2019s political views, no one should be subjected to violence, let alone at the hands of their own son. It\u2019s a horrible tragedy that should engender sympathy and compassion from everyone in our country, period,\u201d Lawler wrote.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RepThomasMassie\/status\/2000597616674193616\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">post on X<\/a>, Rep.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/thomas-massie\/\">Thomas Massie&nbsp;<\/a>(R-Ky.), a vocal Republican Trump critic, called Trump\u2019s comments \u201cinappropriate and disrespectful.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rep.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/marjorie-taylor-greene\/\">Marjorie Taylor Greene\u00a0<\/a>(R-Ga.) noted Nick Reiner\u2019s long history with drug abuse, calling the deaths \u201ca family tragedy, not about politics or political enemies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many families deal with a family member with drug addiction and mental health issues. It\u2019s incredibly difficult and should be met with empathy especially when it ends in murder,\u201d she posted on X.<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RepMTG\/status\/2000597575901327850\/photo\/1\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Democratic figures, including California Gov.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/gavin-newsom\/\">Gavin Newsom&nbsp;<\/a>(D), former Vice President&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/kamala-harris\/\">Kamala Harris&nbsp;<\/a>and former&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/barack-obama\/\">President Obama,<\/a>&nbsp;took to social media to offer their condolences to the Reiner family following the news.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMichelle and I are heartbroken by the tragic passing of Rob Reiner and his beloved wife, Michele. Rob\u2019s achievements in film and television gave us some of our most cherished stories on screen.
